Design Snob.
Design is everything! And, I mean everything—from your interior design to product design, and even including the design of a program or service meant to help those in need. I am a complete design snob. And, no, I do not mean “designer” snob. Years ago, I was lucky enough to have a supervisor who was obsessed with human-centered design. Human-centered design (HCD) is “a process that starts with the people you’re designing for and ends with new solutions that are tailor made to suit their needs.”
With experience using HCD to develop new programs and a background in leading design training, I often wonder why more people do not consider the importance of design in everything they do! No matter what you do day-to-day, you can incorporate an element of improved design in order to better address the needs of those who use your product, your service, or participate in your program.
Nothing is worse than trying to drink out of that water bottle when the lid hits your nose— or calling the service you need for the hundredth time and being transferred around to multiple people.
I’d encourage you to click on the above link, dive into some introductions on Idea.org, and start making changes!
